Welcome to my website! I would like to share with you a little bit about myself as a physician and on a personal level to help make your experience with Chiropractic warm and welcoming.
Prior to becoming a Chiropractor I had done my research in which profession I wanted to pursue my career in. I had always known growing up that I wanted to work in the healthcare profession. I got my feet wet in a few different health fields such as, dentistry, optometry, osteopathy, ear nose and throat specialty and then, of course, chiropractic. After experiencing chiropractic as a patient and finding out what it takes to be in the career, I knew this was what I wanted to do. I loved the idea of treating patients conservatively and naturally. A healthy lifestyle was so important to me. I have been in numerous car accidents myself and had a chronic history of sinus infections in which chiropractic has extremely helped me and changed my life!
I grew up in Reno, Nevada which is where I had started all of my prerequisites to enter Chiropractic college. In 2000, I moved to Portland, Oregon
to attend the four-year program at Western States Chiropractic College
. This was a very rigorous and intense program that thoroughly taught me the in's and out's of the neuromusculoskeletal system in order to evaluate the body as a whole and to provide the best healthcare as a Chiropractic Physician.
While working on my degree at WSCC I participated in the Sports Medicine club working at a few of the major sporting events in the Portland area including Hood to Coast. This inspired me to later run the Hood to Coast event myself and has now made running part of my regular lifestyle to stay healthy and active.
I am currently licensed as a doctor of chiropractic in the United States as well as Canada. As a Chiropractor we have to perform continuing education every year to keep our license active.
Most of my continuing education is done on motor vehicle accidents. I use this education with my personal experience to specialize in this area of trauma. Some of my other focuses in continuing education have included pediatrics and soft tissue manipulation such as myotonic facilitation. In my office I also treat a lot of families including Mom's, Dad's, Grandparents and children with symptoms including everything from neck pain, low back pain, sciatica, headaches, TMJD, sports injuries and more. A lot of people also don't realize that I also treat extremities such as elbows, knees, ankles and wrists.
I met my husband, Dr. Ryan Nienaber (in picture on homepage), at Western States Chiropractic College. He is currently practicing in Wilsonville, OR. We love being able to communicate professionally and also keep each other up to date on current research and events. You can visit his website at www.boonesferrychiropracticandmassage.com
In our family we have 2 boys age 9 and 6. They have been the pride and joy of our life. This helps me devote my practice even more to helping families live healthy and well as a whole since this is a passion of mine.
Outside of work I spend all of my freetime with my family. We also have a bulldog named Millie who keep us busy as well. I stay healthy by exercising regularly including weight training and running in addition to eating a clean and healthy diet. I use a lot of my exercise and nutrition education to include in my daily life as well as helping me improve my patient's quality of life.
My true passion is chiropractic! I absolutely love my job! I hope you enjoy your experience with Chiropractic care and see how it can benefit and change your life for the better.
